I don't have much time to read now-a-days, but I still read.
Lately, due to some nostalgia, I've got this hunger for the books of my childhood (or things like it). Dragonlance.
Okay. Some books were just bull-p00p. And I really can't remember which ones were good and which ones were bad.
Legends and War of Souls trilogy/chronicles memories doesn't seem to give me a good vibe.
Actually I went back and read Time of Twins and man...
I just don't like that book.
I'm eye-ing The Fellowship of the Ring, but -- this is going to sound bad-- I want something I don't have to use too much of my brain for.
Sort of like Dragonlance. Or just your basic hearty sword-and-shield and magic, campfires + bards, meat on a stick sort of fantasy books. Would it make sense if I described the stories I'm looking for to be reddish and tastes like hot meat? (Books-- and styles/genres-- have flavor, I swear).
So- I'm open to recommendations. I probably won't get to them all, but they'll be in the back of my head when the next craving hits.
And feel free to discuss your favorite fantasy books whether or not they fit in with what I'm currently looking for. 8D
edit: I was browsing wikipedia for the book titles. Apparently they had an animation movie made. The trailer makes this thing look awful.
But here's the thing. In the comments below there are people who actually vocalized that they truly believed (not trolls) that Dragonlance was better than Lord of the Rings and deserved to be made into a liveaction. I feel my geek gauntlets coming on.
